General Production Laborer

Department: Production
Position Type: Temporary-to-Hire
Starting Pay: $18.50 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1st shift: 5:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m; 2nd shift: 2:30pm-11:00pm.
Overtime: Occasional Saturday work may be available based on production needs
Reports To: Production Supervisor
Location: Near Elgin, Illinois

Position Summary

Peloton Workforce is seeking a dependable and motivated General Production Laborer for a client near Elgin, Illinois. This temporary-to-hire opportunity is ideal for someone who demonstrates reliable attendance, a strong work ethic, a commitment to workplace safety, and the ability to consistently produce quality work.

This position supports the production of high-quality custom ceramic and refractory products used in demanding industrial applications. Previous ceramics experience is not required; training will be provided.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Perform a variety of general production and manufacturing tasks as assigned.
• Assist with forming, finishing, assembling, handling, and packaging products.
• Load, unload, move, and stage raw materials and finished products.
• Inspect products for visible defects and ensure they meet established quality standards.
• Follow production instructions, work orders, and established procedures.
• Operate basic production equipment and hand tools after receiving appropriate training.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of required personal protective equipment.
• Work cooperatively with team members and promptly communicate problems or concerns to a supervisor.
• Assist with housekeeping, material handling, and other production-related duties as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to consistently report to work on time for the 5:00 a.m. shift.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to stand for an eight-hour shift.
• Willingness to learn new processes and skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to perform physical work throughout the workday.
• Willingness to work occasional Saturdays when overtime is needed.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous manufacturing, warehouse, production, or other hands-on work experience.
• Experience using basic hand tools or production equipment.
• Experience working in a quality- or safety-focused environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to frequently bend, reach, push, pull, and use hands and arms.
• Ability to lift and move materials and finished products as required.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
• Ability to work safely around manufacturing equipment and ceramic materials.

Temporary-to-Hire Opportunity:

This position provides an opportunity to demonstrate your skills, dependability, and work ethic, with the potential to transition to permanent employment. Conversion to a permanent position will be based on performance, attendance, business needs, and other applicable factors.
